Understanding Anantadrishti in Oneself

Anantadrishti Yoga School is a space dedicated to the holistic understanding of Yoga as a way of life, not merely a physical discipline. Rooted in the ancient wisdom of Indian philosophy, our approach integrates Hatha Yoga, Pranayama, Meditation, Yogic Ethics, Bhakti (devotion), and Spiritual Inquiry, guiding the seeker toward inner clarity.

The word Anantadrishti means "Infinite Vision"—the vision that transcends limitations of body, mind, and ego. Through disciplined practice and right understanding, yoga becomes a journey from the finite to the infinite.

योगश्चित्तवृत्तिनिरोधः

Yogaś citta-vṛtti-nirodhaḥ

Yoga is the stilling of the fluctuations of the mind.
Yoga Sutra of Patanjali (1.2)

Curriculum & Practice

What We Offer

A holistic spectrum of yogic practices designed to purify the body, calm the mind, and awaken the spirit.

प्राणो हि भगवान् सर्वे प्राणे तिष्ठन्ति देवताः

Prāṇo hi bhagavān sarve prāṇe tiṣṭhanti devatāḥ

Prāṇa itself is divine; all energies reside within it.

Our Vision

Yoga as Consciousness

At Anantadrishti Yoga School, yoga is perceived as a science of consciousness. We emphasize awareness, discipline, and devotion, allowing practitioners to experience harmony at physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual levels.

युज्यते अनेन इति योगः

Yujyate anena iti yogaḥ

That which unites is Yoga.

Union refers to 3 aspects here: What was before union? What is union? And what is after union? Yoga here is not about achievement rather transformation of senses from Duality to Nonduality.

Our Philosophy

Tradition & Wisdom

We draw inspiration from the Shastras like Yoga Sutras, Bhagavad Gita, Upanishads, and Hatha Yoga texts, presenting yoga in its pure and traditional form, adapted thoughtfully for modern life.

उद्धरेदात्मनाऽत्मानं

Uddhared ātmanātmānaṁ...

One must raise oneself by one's own mind.
Bhagavad Gita 6.5

Our teachings encourage self-effort (Abhyasa) and detachment (Vairagya) as the twin pillars of transformation.

Methodology

Our Approach

We believe true yoga begins inside—when breath becomes subtle, the mind becomes silent, and awareness becomes steady.

समत्वं योग उच्यते

Samatvaṁ yoga ucyate

Equanimity is Yoga.
Bhagavad Gita 2.48

Each practice session is designed to cultivate balance, discipline, and inner stillness, allowing practitioners to carry yogic awareness into daily life.

Purpose

Our Intention

Anantadrishti Yoga School exists to nurture seekers, not followers; experiencers, not imitators. Our aim is to revive the authentic yogic tradition while guiding individuals toward their own inner guru.

न हि ज्ञानेन सदृशं

Na hi jñānena sadṛśaṁ

There is nothing as purifying as true knowledge.
Bhagavad Gita 4.38

What makes the school different

Pranayama is the main subject

Breathing is not a ten-minute add-on to an asana class here. Every teaching day has a pranayama practice, then a second session for corrections and the science and philosophy of pranayama.

Kumbhaka with the bandhas, taught gradually

Breath retention with Mula, Uddiyana and Jalandhara bandha is part of the course from the first week, with short, comfortable holds that are never forced.

Philosophy beside the practice

The study session draws on classical texts such as the Hatha Yoga Pradipika and Patanjali's Yoga Sutras, set beside what you observe in your own breath, mind and body.

Taught by the founder, in small groups

Somashekar teaches the course himself, with corrections every teaching day, in the school's shala near the Ganga.
